He was listed on the 1870-1880 and 1900 U.S. Federal Census in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was married to Regina in 1850. He died August 28, 1908 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His will gave his house to daughter Anna Heilmann, $2000 each to stepdaughters Maria Hessler and Maria Hessler. The remainder of his estate was given to the Church and a orphanage in Troy Hill, Pennsylvania and Buffalo, New York. He died August 28, 1908 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
